Under the circumstances of global international and interethnic communication, the study of border regions becomes increasingly important, due to the phenomenon of the border town. Border towns are at the crossroads of cultural, ethnic, ideological and civilizational influences that ensure the continuous flow of intercultural dialogue, and hence the processes of the identification of border residents. Permanent interaction between two or more cultures leads to border residents forming identities different from the center. Border status becomes a factor that determines thoughts, emotions and everyday practices of its population. The peculiar filtration, cultural overlapping, their symbiosis, in connection with the modern processes of urbanization occurs in the nearest dministrative center. The study of the phenomenon of the border town is actualized in three dimensions: a) the analysis of the processes arising from the synthesis of different cultures, languages, religions, ethnic groups and peoples who have long been exposedto cultural diffusion; b) the study of the role of order towns as places of preservation of the specificity of regional features and the formation of new types of identities; c) studying mechanisms for overcoming conflicts that often arise on the religious, cultural, political and legal grounds in the process of the identification of border residents.
